Cold Start
A cold start is starting up computers in the lab when they are powered off using the power button. This is the state the computers are in when the lab is opened in the morning.
Lab Assistants are responsible for the following tasks:
- If a class is starting soon, start up all the computers in the lab, including the lab monitor's computer and the podium computer. If there are walk-in hours, turn on only the first row of computers (SSL 19-25).
- The printer test (when you send a print job from the podium computer labelled "Printer test 1" and "Printer test 2" to their respective printers, Epson 1 and Epson 2.)
- Check to make sure all markers are working and white board cleaner fluid is filled.
o Extra markers and cleaning fluid are located inside the white closet inside the office.
- Check to make sure there is enough paper in the OneCard printer (get more from office printer if needed)
- Monitor lab until the start of class OR until the professor shows up (WHICHEVER COMES LATER).
- If the lab has not been thoroughly cleaned the night before, and there is sufficient time to clean before the incoming class, the lab should be cleaned.
If it is a rainy morning:
- Replace trash bag with clean bag and make a sign to put wet umbrellas inside
- Use small trash can from office as replacement can for trash inside lab and make sign for this as well
