Walk
in to Class Transition Time
Lab
Assistant should recognize when the next class is starting
5-10
minutes before the start of the next class, Lab assistants should monitor the
exit of the students that are NOT in the next class.
Monitor
the exiting students:
CHANGE THE SIGN ON LAB DOOR FROM WALK-IN HOURS TO CLASS IN SESSION
-
Make
sure that the students leave in a timely manner to allow the lab to be reset
before the incoming class is allowed in the room.
-
Make
sure that everyone is taking their belongings (cellphones, wallets, flash
drives, etc.).
Restoring lab and Light Cleaning:
-
Turn
on ALL COMPUTERS,
restart the ones that have been running using vision.
-
Computers
should be logged into "SOCSCILAB##" WITHOUT "workstation
only" checked
-
Check
for leftover garbage or particles on the table and/or floor.
-
Check
the printers, making sure there is no pause or any ongoing print job.
-
Make
sure the printers are aligned properly and loaded with paper.
Monitor the incoming class:
Students usually start entering
the lab 15-20 minutes before class officially starts
-
Make
sure that the incoming lab users are not entering lab with food/beverages.
-
Monitor
the lab until class start time AND the professor shows up, whichever is later!!
o Special Circumstances/Pointers:
- If a student is unwilling to cooperate to leave the lab/ put away food/beverages, please call in a supervisor
- You should not be idly standing by the printers speaking with other lab assistants just before a class starts. This is the time to pace the aisles to spot out food/beverages that are being hidden behind computers.
- If a student is cooperative, you can offer to keep their beverage in the office until their class is over. Ask them their name and write the class they are in on a sticky note and put it on the coffee/water bottle etc.
