Recipes for an Exploratory Palate

MEET THE CHEF

I started cooking for myself when I got tired of eating all the junk food that they force feed you in the dormitories. Sharing meals is very important in my family, so I was accustomed to eating carefully prepared, complete meals. While at college, I found that I missed the comfort of my mother's dishes, so I started to re-create them at school. After a few years, I noticed that cooking everyday became part of my lifestyle so I resolved to get a job as a chef.

Many years later, here is a sample of what I like to prepare for myself on a typical day.

I would love to hear from you! E-mail me @ mikekuo@earthlink.net

La cuisine de Michelquoi

Whenever, I begin to put together a meal I always keep in mind that a complete dinner contains three elements:  Protein, Carbohydrates and Fiber.  Keeping this in mind, I divided my recipes into three groups that reflect these elements.  You’ll find that my recipes are flexible and easy enough to allow you to mix and match between them.  This prevents the menu from stagnating and dinner in my house will never be boring.

Ø   Meats

Ø   Grains and Potatoes

Ø   Vegetables and Spreads

To make converting measurements easier for you, I’ve compiled a few charts that you should find helpful as a quick reference guide.

I find the internet to be very helpful when I need to find a basic recipe for something I've never cooked before. Try some of these recipe search engines out whenever you get stumped! These days, it's not even necessary to buy a cookbook ever again!
