Brief Personal Biography

I am Nahoko Abe and live in Leonia, New Jersey. I was born in Osaka, Japan. I am married and have three kids(two daughters and one son). My e-mail address shows my daughters' names: Sari and Fubuki. My son, Amane, was born here last year, so he is the only American citizen in my family.

I graduated from Kanazawa University in Japan long ago. My major was Environmental and Construction Engineering. I worked for the Yokohama City Government as an architect and planner for ten years. Two years ago I quit my job and came here from Japan due to my husband’s work. I enrolled at Hunter College last September in order to study urban planning. I hope to go back to Japan in a couple of years. Therefore, I hope to graduate from college by that time and would like to work in the public or non-profit sectors again if possible.

Japanese Tips

What do you know about Japanese people? Japanese people work hard, wear glasses, and laugh without reason. That is almost true. However, it's only Japanese businessmen whom you see in cities and towns. Many Americans maybe do not know about Japanese lives because we are poor at communicating to foreigners. The following essay is a small part of Japanese lives around me.
